Pieces that Make a Home

I enjoy being intentional with each item that is brought into our home and it feels so good to get closer to the vision.

Hey loves! How are you on this good Thursday? 

For the past couple of weeks I have been in diy and decor mode for my house. As fun as it is… it is also quite taxing.. I mean no one is ever finished with projects when it comes to your safe haven because there is always some grand decor idea popping up… then it time to change everything. My husband and I are still in the beginning phases of finalizing our home but one item I was super excited to fit into our decor plans was a record player… I know … it doesn’t sound like that big of a deal.. but hear me out… When I purchased it… it wasn’t just about the look but it was  for the sound specifically when an old school, jazz, or Neo soul song is being played. It is something about the slight scratches that just creates a different mood. 

I ended up getting a cream colored Crosley Record player and to start off my vinyl collection. I purchased the Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, Motown Hits, and Marvin Gaye… and my husband and I have been doing our little two step almost every evening.  I love me some old school and that “ What’s going on” by Marvin Gaye hits every time… so nostalgic.. takes me back to the days of being around my nana and her friends ( the reason for my old soul… if you know you know), fresh pot of collards with homemade dumplings, fried chicken, music flowing through the screen door and everyone dancing on the front porch… whew… good times. 

To complete my setup up, I found a cute shelf on Amazon ( shoutout to Prime!) and it took no time to put together. Once the setup was complete.. my living room was one step closer to its final look. 

For those of you that are contemplating on if you should have a record player even though you already have a stereo… YESS GO GET YOU ONE!! You won’t regret it. I love mine so much… I knew it would be the perfect gift for my dad so I ordered him one and sent a couple vinyls to him as well. I even made him get on face time while he opened  and I’m so glad I did because his reaction was priceless :) 

I have a few more items to add to the living room, but it feels so good to get closer to the vision. Whether it is a brand new item or a preloved piece… I enjoy being intentional with each item that is brought into our home.
