Reservation for One

I just have one question.. When is the last time you’ve taken yourself on a date?

Hello loves! How are you feeling? 

Before we get into today’s post…. I just have one question.. When is the last time you’ve taken yourself on a date?

Sounds silly right… but I’m serious. Can you even remember a time you did this? If not… it’s all good. I’m here to remind you of how important it is. My husband and I make an effort to go on dates, whether it’s outside or inside. Yes… meeting in the dining room for a home cooked dinner and a movie in the living room after counts as a date. I love those every now and then. But I like to have dates where I acknowledge myself as well. This can be getting my nails done, grabbing a bite, a spa appointment and so much more.  

Some of you may be saying I take plenty of time to do these things, but I’m talking about actually being intentional when setting this time aside. Instead of just inhaling food on the go… actually sit and enjoy the scenery… take in your surroundings and sift through your thoughts… That is what dates with yourself should look like. 

This past week, I grabbed some ice cream and went to the park to write… It was a great way to enjoy a pretty day and take some time for myself. 

Doing these things also reminds us that we are in control  and we set the tone for all the situations life throws at us. I’m sure we all have had a period in our lives where we felt obligated to meet self made deadlines and forget that they are “ Self Made” and we have the power to change the deadline… This happens because we fail to realize we need moments to bask in  where we are in life , what we’ve accomplished and what we need to improve on… WE often hear don’t miss your blessing.. but I’m going to add on and say… and once you receive your blessing … sit in that blessing for a moment… whether it is in the form of a friendship or a thought that you didn’t know you needed… it all deserves a moment of appreciation.
